The General Assembly is the highest authoritative statutory organ of SYNDESMOS, and is composed of the officially designated representatives of the Members of SYNDESMOS, together with the Board of Administration, the auditors, guests and observers.

The General Assembly meets once every four years; the last Assembly took place this year from 14 - 22 July 2003, in the Resurrection of Christ Theological Academy, Durres, Albania.

This was the XVII General Assembly of SYNDESMOS, and marked the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Fellowship in 1953. It was very significant for SYNDESMOS at this point in its history to hold a General Assembly within the heart of a young and vibrant resurrected Church, the fruit of Orthodox missionary endeavours. The event was indeed a source of inspiration for everyone. There were around sixty Syndesmos member delegates, who, together with stewards, guests and staff, made a total of 150 people. Although the absence of many Syndesmos members was remarked upon (after all, we are more than 220 in all), nevertheless, the atmosphere was no less positive for the fewer participants. Indeed the Assembly was characterised by the intimate and warm environment, which was ideal for open and sincere discussions.
